FIRST WATCH: Centrist PAC Goes Koch Brothers Negative On McSally In $145k Ad Buy (FOLLOWING MONEY IN ARIZONA'S POLITICS)

A centrist Super PAC that primarily supports Blue Dog Democrats began running a $145,000 ad buy this week that hammers Martha McSally as being bankrolled by the Koch brothers in return for advocating for tax hikes on the middle class and privatizing social security.

Center Forward reported today that it spent $10,180 producing the ad - which takes the form of an old newsreel/drama thingy - and $137,864 airing it in Tucson and southern Arizona Congressional District 2.

Of course, the term "bankrolling" implies that the influential conservative Koch brothers are paying for all - or, at least most of - McSally's campaign.  That is demonstrably false.  Organizations with ties to the network of organizations funded by the Koch brothers have spent quite a bit of money running negative ads against incumbent Rep. Ron Barber (D-CD2) in the toss-up district, but even that does not (yet) make up the majority of monies spent.

Center Forward ran positive ads earlier this year supporting Blue Dog Democrats Ron Barber (D-CD2) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-CD9), as well as five other Democrats and two Republicans.  This appears to be the first time this year that the dark money organization has *gone negative*.

The ad will run through September 15.

TRANSCRIPT:
The billionaire Koch brothers are bankrolling Martha McSally's campaign.  They know they'll get tax breaks and giveaways, and they know it will be paid for on your back with tax hikes on the middle class, privatizing social security - according to the nation's most-respected senior's advocates - raising the retirement age.  Now you know what the billionaires know.  Martha McSally is for them, never for us.  Center Forward is responsible for the content of this advertising.
